During 2008 it became clear that the State Authority responsible for the Inspection and Regulation of Orphanages (which includes old age homes) would no longer allow males and females to sleep in the same building. This enforcement came as a result of serious incidents that took place earlier in the year in a home located in the state capital. The prospect was that the 12 men in the Old Age Home would be told to leave by the Authorities. These men had come into the home from the streets and from the forests – they have no other place to return to.
