"on the 'targets' page you will have read about the need for an extension to the main Old Age Home - once again arising
from mandatory Government legislation - and this has now been completed. In the earlier photos you can see the building work going along, but we had
not found all the funds to complete! This was achieved in collaboration with other charitable bodies and as ever brilliantly managed by the Divine Mercy
Trust full-time volunteer Peter Dhanam. See the photo below of the completed extension. This has meant the total of 24 residents (maximum number) now
have more space in which to live and sleep. Do not be alarmed by one of the photos showing one chap on a mattress placed on the floor; at the time of
taking this photo he was having mobility problems and the best way was to let him rest at ground level.
There is one photo showing the local pool - this is just about 100 m from Old Age Home and is used by the local village people for
clothes washing and personal bathing."
"You can see some of the local construction workers finishing a new roof for the kitchen area of the Home. when the Home was constructed there was not enough money
to make all the roof area out of concrete and so one area used tin-sheet; this was not of good quality, due the cash problems, and started to let in water. we saw
this for ourselves in 2009 and so it became a priority to sort out in 2010. The photo shows the men at work. This is the way it is done! In another of the photos
you can see the residents being presented with new cloths (scarves and shawls) - this is a traditional act at times of celebration; these presentations were made
in February to commemorate the opening of the Home."
